Then “Dexter: Resurrection” (2025)
Miami, 1991. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to channel his inner darkness, turning from a student into a vengeful serial killer under the guidance of his father, Harry. Christian Slater was older than James Remar when Dexter (2006) first aired. “Dexter: Original Sin” takes a bold risk by returning to Dexter Morgan’s formative years and offering a new look at his dark passenger.
One of the series’ his strongest side is the casting
While some of the prequels stumble under the weight of established canon, Deadly Sin largely succeeds in enriching Dexter’s mythology and creating a convincing stand-alone story. Patrick Gibson, although his casting was questionable at first, succeeds in the role of young Dexter, leading the character’s characteristic mixture of social awkwardness and frighteningly calculated violence. Molly Brown shines as Deb, giving the young version of the character a fiery spirit and vulnerability that resonates deeply. The supporting actors, including Alex Shimizu as Masuki and James Martinez as Batista, also perfectly convey the essence of their original counterparts.
Original sin is not without flaws
But Christian Slater feels a little cheated in the role of Harry, trying his best to embody the inner conflicts of the character. The series skillfully combines familiar elements of the original Dexter, including iconic musical cues and visual motifs, while also exploring new territory. An additional plot involving Harry’s dead son complicates Dexter’s origin story, though it sometimes veers into melodramatic territory. The mystery behind Dexter’s current predicament in Iron Lake creates overwhelming tension throughout the season.
The excessive reliance on licensed music sometimes contradicts the show’s darker themes
The pacing can be uneven, with some episodes feeling rushed and others drawn out. And although the computer graphics as a whole have improved compared to the first series, in some walls there are still noticeable problems with visual effects. Despite these flaws, Dexter: Original Sin is a worthy addition to the Dexter universe. It’s a darkly entertaining exploration of Dexter’s past, offering a fresh look at his transformation into the Bay Harbor Butcher.

Although it may not completely satisfy all fans, especially those who were disappointed with “New Blood”, “Original Sin” offers enough exciting moments, bright acting and intriguing twists to keep the audience on the edge until the bloody end. “One hundred years of loneliness”; – one of the biggest television and radio premieres this month.
